Safety Officer

We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Officer to join the team at Let’s Go Hydro

Role: Safety Officer

Responsible to: General Manager

Located: Let’s Go Hydro, Cable Park, Belfast International Watersports Resort, Knockbracken Reservoir, Mealough Road.

Contract: 3 month Fixed Term Contract, June – August 2023

Hours of work: Typical working week will include weekends

Job Summary

As Safety Officer, you will be responsible for working alongside the managers and operations team to ensure the health & safety of the resort. If successful, your responsibility will be to prevent accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses in the workplace, maintaining high standards of Health & Safety prevention and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and audit H&S Policies and Procedures, creating and implementing specific risk assessments and prevention techniques to minimise potential risk
  • Review all incidents/accidents and carry out any necessary investigations, ensuring all paperwork is collated
  • Maintain the company H&S platforms, ensuring these are kept up to date
  • Collecting safety data and reporting on a weekly basis or daily should a serious incident arise
  • Liaising with other Hydro departments regarding safety measures, strategies, and future plans
  • Carry out safety reviews and audits and recommending best practice and compliance
  • Supporting all Hydro departments with any H&S issues, inspecting and carrying out training as required
  • Reporting to upper management on potential risks and offering effective solutions
  • Collecting, reporting, and checking risk assessments, reports and records
  • Ensuring daily safety checks are completed within each department, and correctly stored, carrying out any follow up action as necessary
  • Liaising with external contacts for example NI Fire Service, NI Fire Risk Assessment Company and ADT
  • Keep up with industry standards, teaching techniques and hold staff training days
  • Building incident files and logging reporting with relevant H&S bodies along with experience in risk management on large sites
  • To promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the whole LGH team and as well as with its customers

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities but will evolve and change depending on business needs.

Essential Skills:

  • At least two years’ experience as a Health & Safety Officer in a hospitality or leisure setting
  • Previous experience in leisure, fast paced hospitality, or outdoor adventure industry
  • Excellent IT skills and experience in Microsoft Office / 365, including word, excel, outlook, powerpoint, teams, etc
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Previous experience with reporting, risk assessments, risk prevention
  • Ability to present to Senior Managers/Directors on any H&S issues / reports
  • Experience with liaising with external governing and Health and Safety Officials
  • Health and Safety levels 1,2,3 certified
  • Highly motivated and good problem-solving skills
  • Strong project and time-management skills
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivated and solution focused
  • Excellent communication skills and positive attitude
  • The role is subject to Right to Work checks as per UK employment law
  • Excellent people skills and experience working with families & young people is essential and you must be enthusiastic and passionate about your role and working outdoors
  • Must have full driving licence and access to a vehicle
