Role: Leisure Manager (Events & Groups)
Location: Lets Go Hydro, Knockbracken Reservoir, 1 Mealough Road, Carryduff
Contract: Fixed term contract, April – December 2023
Hours of work: typically 40-hours per week, 5 days out of 7, including weekends
Reporting to: Activity Resort Manager
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per annum (pro-rata) depending on experience
As Leisure Manager, you will be responsible for running a range of parties, events and groups including our popular Summer Program, which can cater up to 10 groups a week, managing a team of staff to deliver events to group bookings and large parties on the resort.
This department is extremely high paced through the peak season and requires effective management and attention to detail. To be considered for this role you will have significant experience in the leisure or hospitality industry, with a proven track record of managing and motivating staff. The hours will be based on a weekly rota, which will include working evenings and weekends.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for internal and external clients and visitors, offering resort information and booking info in a friendly and effective manner
- Work with the Customer Services Manager and Marketing Manager to plan and promote events, bookings and Summer Scheme administration.
- Manage the Summer Scheme Team in offering a 9 week Summer Camp Programme with continuous review of water and land based activities.
- Lead staff training for Summer Scheme Programme and log this.
- Responsible for running a range of events, ensuring target audience is engaged and the message of the event is marketed properly by working close with marketing manager and customer services manager
- Manage all pre-event planning, ensuring adequate staff numbers, and that traffic control, security, first aid and health and safety are adhered to
- Improve customer experience, delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, with great attention to detail
- Take a pro-active approach to the customer journey with a focus on look and feel, wait times and customer needs, always maintain exceptional standards
- Assisting with creation and maintaining policies and procedures for the events department
- Actively lead a team to maximise revenue through various channels
- Produce post-event evaluation to inform future events
- Ensure staff follows daily cleaning schedules & comply our opening and end of day/closing procedures
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance of the whole team and customers
- Ensuring security procedures are being followed
- Recording and logging of maintenance reports and following these up
- Supervise staff members, train & develop them in all areas of service.
- Attend and contribute to regular review meetings with senior management to ensure communications are regular and constructive
- Additional hours will be expected to meet peak periods and for key events – max 50 hours per week

Essential criteria:
- Proven management experience working in leisure, tourism and hospitality industry
- Strong interest in sport, including water /dry land activities
- Passionate about working with groups and parties
- Confident with presentation skills
- Experience in event management, including rota planning to business needs
- Experience working towards and setting KPIs, strategy building and creating business plans
- Experience supervising and managing large teams
- Great communication skills, organisational and time management skills
- A good team worker and leader, able to motivate and manage staff
- Flexible, adaptable with a can-do attitude
- Willingness to go above and beyond
- Motivated, driven, passionate and enthusiastic
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Email
- Flexible to work varied shifts, including day, evening and weekend shifts
- Excellent people skills, experience working with families & young people and enjoy working outdoors
- Right to work in the UK documentation
Desirable criteria:
- A qualification in leisure, hospitality or tourism
- Activity resort experience (water park or similar outdoor activity resort)
- In-depth understanding of current Aqua Park industry, and all activities currently provided by Let’s Go Hydro
This is a hands-on role, and although there will be some administration tasks a hardworking, flexible attitude is required.
